Banners
Banners let you display promotional content on your site with optional date-based scheduling. They can run independently or be linked to a sales schedule for fully automated campaign launches.
Accessing the Banners Tab
Navigate to SyteHero > Banners in your WordPress admin menu.
If you do not see the Banners tab, it must be enabled first:
- Go to SyteHero > Settings.
- Toggle the Banners option ON.
- Save your settings.
Creating a Banner
- Open the Banners tab.
- Click Add Banner (or the equivalent button at the top of the list).
- Set banner content: Enter the HTML that should be displayed. This can include text, images, links, or any valid HTML markup. Banner HTML is sanitized through WordPress's
wp_kses_postallowlist — the same allowlist used for post content — which strips<script>tags and inline event handlers (onclick=, etc.) for safety. Standard formatting tags (<a>,<strong>,<em>,<img>, etc.) are preserved. - Schedule dates: Choose a Start Date and End Date to control when the banner is visible.
- Enable or disable: Use the toggle to activate or deactivate the banner. A disabled banner will not display regardless of its scheduled dates.
- Save your changes.
Linking Banners to Sales Schedules
Banners become even more powerful when paired with sales scheduling:
- Go to SyteHero > Schedules.
- On any schedule row, use the Banner dropdown to select a banner.
- Save the schedule.
When the linked sale goes live, the banner HTML is injected automatically on your site. This means you can prepare both the sale pricing and the promotional banner ahead of time, and everything activates together on the scheduled start date.
When the sale ends, the banner shows your own text again, or passes to the next sale that uses it. Two sales can share a banner one after the other: the banner follows the sale that is running, or else the next one.
Banner Times and Time Zones
Banner start and end times are in your site's time zone (Settings → General → Timezone in WordPress), whatever time zone your computer is set to.
Saving the Banners tab changes a linked sale's start or end only if you changed that date on the Banners tab. A date you left alone does not move the sale, also on the night the clocks go back, and also after you change your site's time zone. Clearing a banner's date unlinks the sale from the banner; the sale keeps its own dates.
For details on how banner assignment and conflict resolution work, see the Sales Scheduling documentation.
Disabling Banners
To turn off the banners feature entirely:
- Go to SyteHero > Settings.
- Toggle the Banners option OFF.
- Save your settings.
Disabling hides the Banners tab from the admin menu and stops all banner scheduling and display hooks. No banners will be shown on the front end while the feature is off.
